Knee Surgery for Torn Meniscus by George K. Aitken, M.D.
Because of orthopedic care, I can continue to live to see my grandchildren grow up!
One of my most important goals is to dance with my grandsons at their weddings. Dr. Aitken has no doubt afforded me the opportunity to live long enough to do that.
In December 2010, Dr. Aitken performed a routine knee scope on me because of a torn meniscus. Because he chooses to do his own scrubs prior to surgery, he noticed a mole on the bottom of my foot. When I returned for my follow-up visit to his office, he asked me about the mole which had been there as long as I could remember. He told me that it needed to be removed.
I followed up with my dermatologist immediately. The diagnosis: Stage 2 malignant melanoma. The mole was removed by a plastic surgeon and, thankfully, the post-operative pathology report showed clear dimensions.
Because of Dr. Aitken's excellent and comprehensive patient care and attention to detail, I have returned to work, live a healthy and active life and fully expect to dance with all three of my grandsons on their wedding day!
Dr. Aitken no doubt saved my life and for that I am eternally grateful.

Knee Replacement by George K. Aitken, M.D.
Because of my orthopaedic care, I can travel to wonderful places and be the active person I've always been.
I have been a nurse for 42 years and worked hard and long hours! Seven years ago, I had a total left knee replacement by Dr. Aitken. I could not believe how crippled I'd become and the pain that I endured but I never missed a day of work.
I have always been active but my knee really slowed me down. I knew the time had come to do something about it. You see, my husband had received orders to go to Iraq for 24 months and I knew that, along with working full-time, all the household duties and chores would fall on me.
My knee replacement was the greatest thing I have ever done for myself! I have a wonderful orthopedic surgeon in Dr. Aitken. I did exactly what he told me to do which included attending physical therapy sessions and doing exercises at home.
My independence has improved greatly and my quality of life is restored. I can now walk, shop, go up and down stairs with ease and work in my flower garden without pain. I have also been able to travel to Ireland, go on cruises and I travel frequently to visit my family.
It is such a blessing to be pain free and I thank Dr. Aitken for it and highly recommend him to anyone seeking orthopedic care.
